INTERN PLACEMENT SERVICES
MARBELLA, SPAIN
Live and Work on the Costa del Sol in Marbella, Spain.
(April through November only)
Our program in Marbella is an exciting and different experience from Adelante's other programs.
This internship assignment is at a hotel where you will also eat, live and meet other
international interns in a very international, young and busy work environment.
The program begins with your arrival in Madrid where you live in a shared apartment and
take your first two weeks of Intensive Spanish classes. Then, the weekend after your
classes end, you will take the train to Marbella where you will be met and taken directly
to the hotel where you will live and work, ready to begin your internship that Monday.
For this program, your Adelante Director is not "on-site" as she is based in Madrid but
you will have regular contact via email. There is an Intern Supervisor based at the Hotel
for daily interactions as needed. Shifts are for 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, with a lunch break.
All meals plus laundry and cleaning services are included. Candidates live in a double-room
with other international (eg. German, Swedish, Italian) or American interns, for the
duration of their program.
Your duties at the hotel will vary depending on your prior experience and Spanish skills,
but may include any or all of the following:
- guest registration, check-in and check-out, making reservation/room changes
- directing guests to their rooms and showing them the hotel facilities
-
selling towels, phone cards, meal tickets, locker tokens, handing out sports
equipment/games etc
- answering questions about the hotel and Marbella in general
- counting the cash drawer and filing registration and other forms
- typing and printing menus and other documents
- answering the phones if your Spanish skills are up to it!
The hotel is on a small hill (don't bring high heeled shoes for work!) in the beautiful
resort town of Marbella, and the great thing about it is that everything is within
walking distance - including the beach of course!! ATM, grocery stores, great cafes
and nicer restaurants, cinema, theatres, shops and nightlife - everything you expect
to find in a thriving jet set beach town is easily accessible. There is also a bus station
about 3 minutes walk from the hotel, and most all travel is done using public transport:
either taking the bus or heading into Malaga and catching a train for longer trips.

This is a great work assignment for candidates with a background or interest in tourism,
languages, administration, international education, study abroad or even psychology.
We have previously had candidates from a variety of different fields and all have truly
enjoyed themselves and learned significantly from their experience.
One thing: you MUST be an outgoing person to have success in this placement!
Another thing: your Spanish will improve immensely too!
