Pharmacy Internships Abroad
Gain Global Pharmacy Experience with Internships in Spain
Take Your Pharmacy Career to an International Level
Experience a pharmacy internship in Spain or Latin America, connect with real patients, and see how healthcare works in another culture. This is not just a career boost; it is a career-defining moment.
A pharmacy internship abroad gives you hands-on experience in real pharmacy settings across Spain and Latin America. Whether you work in a locally owned Spanish pharmacy or support a public health initiative, you will finish your experiential program with international experience that sets your resume apart.
Adelante has been placing pharmacy students, PharmD candidates, and pre-pharmacy students in customized international pharmacy internships since 1999. Placements are available, including summer placements, ranging from 2 to several months. A low-intermediate level of Spanish is required for most internships.
Why Choose a Pharmacy Internship Abroad?
An international pharmacy internship is one of the most distinctive experiences you can add to your professional profile. Here’s why pharmacy students choose to intern abroad:
Experience the world of pharmacy from a global perspective
Witness firsthand how pharmaceutical systems, dispensing policies, and patient care differ between countries, and bring that insight to your career at home.
Strengthen your clinical Spanish
Working directly with Spanish-speaking patients and pharmacists accelerates your language skills in the most practical way.
Explore different pharmacy settings
From large national organizations to locally owned pharmacies, we will match you with a placement suited for your interests.
Build a standout resume
International pharmacy experience signals initiative, adaptability, and cross-cultural competency to employers, residency programs, and PharmD admissions committees.
Earn academic credit
Most Adelante pharmacy interns receive academic credit through their home university, with full documentation support from our team.
Available year-round, including summer
This makes it easy to fit an international experience into your academic schedule without losing momentum.
Pharmacy internships abroad are open to students in pharmacy, pre-pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, or related medical and health fields. PharmD candidates are especially encouraged to apply. This is a unique opportunity to fulfill experiential hours in an international setting.
What Will You Do as a Pharmacy Intern Abroad?
Your day-to-day experience depends on your specific placement, but here are the types of work our pharmacy interns can take on:
Working in a Locally Owned Pharmacy
Intern in a locally owned or run pharmacy and interact directly with the Spanish public. More and more, local pharmacies are focusing on alternative or more “natural” medicines and prevention. Note that intermediate Spanish and a minimum 2-month program duration are required.
Interning for a Pharmaceutical Company
Interning for a pharmaceutical company offers a unique look at how the industry operates on an international scale.
Working for a Public Health Organization
Support organizations working on Nutrition projects or Free Clinics that advocate sexual health and offer free testing.
Working Within a Large National Organization
Intern with a large, national organization whose mission is to serve the Spanish population via education, networking, and direct access to pharmaceutical products and services, as an umbrella company connected with both pharmacies and service providers.
