Tourism & Hospitality Internships Abroad
Hospitality Internships in the World’s Most Exciting Tourism Destinations
Take Your Hospitality & Tourism Career International
Tourism and hospitality are one of the world’s biggest and fastest-changing industries. Professionals who succeed here are those who see it from a global perspective. An international hospitality internship does more than boost your resume. It helps you build cross-cultural skills, gain language confidence, and get real-world experience that employers in hotels, travel agencies, and tourism companies everywhere want.
Adelante Abroad places tourism and hospitality interns in top tourist destinations across Spain and South America. Some of our past students have worked at a boutique hotel in Barcelona, an eco-tourism agency in Chile, or a resort in Punta del Este, Uruguay. No matter your interests, we’ll help you find a placement that aligns with your goals and sets you on the right career path.
Our tourism and hospitality internships abroad run year-round, including summer, in five locations: Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Punta del Este, Uruguay, and Viña del Mar & Valparaíso, Chile. Most placements require at least basic Spanish, but Adelante offers language classes at the start of your program to help you prepare.
Why Choose a Tourism & Hospitality Internship Abroad?
The hospitality industry rewards those who bring real international experience to the table. Here’s why tourism and hospitality students pursue internships abroad:
Work in world-class tourism destinations
Spain and South America attract millions of visitors every year. Gaining experience in these markets gives you insight into high-volume, high-expectation hospitality environments that translate everywhere.
Build bilingual hospitality skills
Working with Spanish-speaking guests, colleagues, and supervisors is one of the fastest ways to develop the language skills that give you a competitive edge in hotels, travel agencies, and tourism companies across the globe.
Explore different hospitality tracks
From hotel front office and event planning to eco-tourism operations and travel agency logistics, our placements cover the full breadth of the industry.
Gain cross-cultural guest service experience
Understanding how to serve and communicate with guests from different cultural backgrounds is a skill that hospitality employers actively seek and rarely find in domestically trained candidates.
Stand out for graduate roles and hotel management programs
International internship experience signals initiative, adaptability, and a global outlook that domestic placements simply can’t replicate.
Earn academic credit
Most Adelante interns receive academic credit through their home university, with full documentation support from our team.
These placements are open to candidates from hospitality management, tourism, hotel administration, event planning, business, and related fields. No specific degree is required; what matters most is a passion for the industry and a genuine enthusiasm for working with people from all different parts of the world.
What Will You Do as a Tourism & Hospitality Intern Abroad?
Your placement will depend on your destination, interests, and Spanish level, but here’s a look at the types of roles and responsibilities our tourism and hospitality interns may take on:
Hotel Internships Abroad
Hotel placements are available in boutique hotels, European chains, and large resort properties, including golf and tennis-centered hotels in Spain. Depending on your language level and background, you may work in various hotel departments such as guest services and reception, catering and room service, hotel administration, and event planning and management. It’s an immersive, fast-paced environment where each day brings something different, and your Spanish will improve faster than you can imagine.
Travel Agency & Tour Operations
Travel agency placements put you at the heart of the tourism industry. In Uruguay, interns work hands-on with tour operations, running logistics between the airport and capital hotels, accompanying vacationers on tours, and helping plan adventure trips for youth groups. It’s an active, client-facing role that builds communication, logistics, and customer service skills in an exciting environment.
Eco-Tourism & Extreme Tourism
Chile is home to some of Adelante’s most unique tourism placements, with extreme and eco-tourism agencies operating out of Viña del Mar and Valparaíso. These placements are ideal for candidates passionate about sustainable travel, outdoor adventure, and responsible tourism. You will work with an agency that takes guests off the beaten path, gaining insight into one of the fastest-growing segments of the global tourism industry.
Event Planning & Hospitality Management
Some of our hospitality placements focus on event planning, working within hotels or tourism organizations to coordinate and execute events for guests and clients. These roles are excellent for candidates interested in the management side of hospitality, and they build project management, communication, and organizational skills that transfer across the broader industry.
