Winery Internships Abroad

Winery Internships in Chile’s Premier Wine Country

Uncork Your Career in One of the World's Great Wine Regions

Chile has quietly become one of the world’s most exciting wine countries, a vast sun-drenched landscape of valleys, vineyards, and wineries producing bottles that compete with the best of France, Italy, and Spain. Unlike those more established wine regions, Chile’s industry is still young, growing, and hungry for passionate, internationally-minded people who want to be part of it.

Adelante Abroad places winery and viticulture interns with a range of wineries in the valleys surrounding Viña del Mar and Valparaíso, from large international operations that export their wines, to small family-run wineries specializing in one or two grape varieties, to certified organic vineyards. Whether you are working in the cellar during harvest, managing wine tourism events for visitors, or learning enology from a professional winemaker, a winery internship in Chile is as hands-on and memorable as it gets.

One great thing about this placement is that it is available year-round because different seasons bring different work. Grape stomping runs from March to May during harvest, while bottling takes place from July to August. Tourism and events roles operate throughout the year. Placements are based at the wineries, a 30–40 minute bus ride from downtown Viña del Mar or Valparaíso, with the winery covering your monthly bus pass.

What Will You Do as a Winery Intern Abroad?

Winery placements at Adelante cover the full spectrum of the wine industry, from vine to bottle to visitor. Here are the types of work our interns take on:

Viticulture & Vineyard Work

Get your hands on the land itself by working in the vineyard during the growing and harvest seasons. Grape stomping in the March–May harvest is one of the most iconic and memorable winery internship experiences, and Chile’s harvest produces some of the most vibrant, hands-on moments in Adelante’s portfolio. Vineyard work builds a deep, sensory understanding of winemaking that no classroom or tasting room can replicate.

Cellar Work & Enology

For those interested in the science and craft of winemaking, cellar placements offer exposure to the production process from fermentation to bottling (July–August). Working with professional enologists, you’ll develop a technical understanding of how grape variety, terroir, fermentation, and aging combine to create the final product. This track is ideal for students in enology, viticulture, food science, or chemistry who want to see theory come alive in practice.

Import/Export & Wine Business

Chile’s wine industry is globally oriented, and many of Adelante’s winery partners export bottles to markets in Europe, North America, and Asia. Placements in import/export and the commercial side give interns exposure to international trade logistics, distribution, marketing, and the strategy behind building a wine brand in global markets. This is a strong fit for business, international relations, or marketing students with a passion for wine.

Wine Tourism, Tastings & Events

Wine tourism is one of Chile’s fastest-growing industries, and Adelante’s tourism-track winery placements put interns at the center of it. You’ll work on tours and events at wineries and vineyards for visitors from Chile and around the world, organizing tastings, managing guest experiences, assisting with events, and representing the winery to an international audience. This track combines hospitality, marketing, and cultural exchange in a beautiful setting.
