Sample Excursions

These change depending on time of year and also as new, cool things to do come to our attention!  Some are tried and true, some are truly unique to Adelante.  Below is a very general idea.

Caribbean Coast

This is a weekend trip, Friday to Sunday,  to Puerto Viejo and the city of Limon.

Arrive by bus, accommodations b&b style, breakfast, snorkeling tour, visit to an indigenous reserve and to Kekoldi.

Manuel Antonio National Park

What a National Park on the Central Pacific!  And with beautiful beaches!! Think white sands ringed by forests and trees. See all kinds of critters including white-faced monkeys, sloths (our favorite), racoons and more rodents and birds.

For this Friday – Sunday excursion:  Arrive by bus, accommodations (in a hotel or cabin of your choice) and Breakfast

Arenal Volcano/ Hot Springs

A close friend of Adelante Abroad traveled here and was so impressed she gave her first son the middle name of “Arenal”!  It’s true.  An active volcanoes, one of several  that can be found in Costa Rica, where during the day you can see smoke emanating from the crater. When night comes you can see bright red eruptions of lava, which have created rustic and relaxing hot springs.

This is a long day trip: Transportation is by bus, lunch, dinner, entrance to hot springs included. Departure: 8:00 A.M., Return: 11:00 P.M. times are approximate

Canopy Tour

You can either go to Poas or San Lorenzo. This trip is done on ropes amongst the treetops. Appreciate first hand the great biodiversity that this very particular nature has to offer. The tours are done with good equipment and visitors are secured with harnesses and security lines. Go between bridges and high and higher platforms – below you is all green!

Day trip Includes: bus transportation, lunch, entrance, guide. Departure: 7:00 A.M. Return: 4:00 P.M. times are approximate

Should you wish to participate in more activities and excursions than what is included in your program, you absolutely can! We make these and more available to you — all are very worthwhile, guided by a trusted resource — and the cost typically will be less than you would pay on your own.
