Event Planning Internships Abroad

Build Your Event Management Career with Real, International Experience

Want to Be a Wedding Planner or Event Manager? Gain Experience Abroad

Event planning is a field that rewards people who are organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in fast-moving environments. Doing that work in another country adds an extra layer of challenge and growth that makes the experience genuinely valuable for your career.

Placements cover a wide range of event types and organizations. Past interns have worked on international auto shows and bridal fairs in Madrid, grassroots fundraising events in Oaxaca, and education and advocacy events for LGBTQ organizations in Seville. The scale and type of event will vary by placement and host organization.

Event planning internships are available in Spain and Mexico, with programs running year-round. A low-intermediate level of Spanish or higher is required for most placements, as you will be working directly within Spanish-speaking professional environments.

Why Choose an Event Planning Internship Abroad?

An international event planning internship gives you the kind of hands-on experience that is difficult to access as a student in your home country. Here is why event planning students and aspiring event managers choose to intern abroad with Adelante:

Experience event planning in a different cultural context

How events are organized, celebrated, and managed varies significantly across countries, and working abroad gives you a first-hand understanding of that.

Build your professional network internationally

Working in another country connects you with event professionals, vendors, and organizations that expand your professional network beyond your home market.

Develop your Spanish in a professional setting

Working in a Spanish-speaking event environment builds communication skills that are increasingly valuable in an industry that serves diverse and international audiences.

Earn academic credit

Most Adelante interns receive academic credit through their home university, with full documentation support from our team.

Event planning placements tend to suit people who are well-organized, outgoing, and comfortable taking initiative. The more proactive you are, the more you will get out of your placement.

What Will You Do as an Event Planning Intern Abroad?

Event planning is a broad field, and our placements reflect that. Here is a look at the types of work our event planning interns have taken on across their placements:

Work on Large-Scale Events and Trade Shows

Some placements involve supporting the planning and execution of large-scale events, including international trade shows, auto shows, and bridal fairs in Madrid that bring together companies and attendees from across Europe. These placements give you exposure to the logistics, vendor coordination, and on-the-ground management that large events require.

Work with Nonprofit and Advocacy Organizations

Some interns have been placed with arts nonprofits and advocacy organizations, supporting fundraising events, community gatherings, and awareness campaigns. In Oaxaca, past interns have helped organize grassroots fundraising events, and in Seville, interns have contributed to education and advocacy pride fairs for LGBTQ organizations.

These roles give you a well-rounded view of how professional event companies manage their client relationships and event delivery.

Assist with Event Coordination and Administration

Across all placements, event planning interns support the day-to-day coordination work that keeps events on track, including scheduling, vendor outreach, logistics management, materials preparation, and post-event reporting. This is the core work of event management, and it is where most interns build their foundational skills.

Event Planning FAQs

What Can I expect as an Event Planning Intern Abroad?

Adelante’s Architecture and interior design interns work in busy, professional settings. They are expected to know their way around CADD software at a minimum. Candidates will rarely shadow a partner in the firm. Instead, they will work under a Senior Manager or Project Manager or a Senior Architect/Interior Designer.

The architecture field is a little more strict in its requirements than most. Most of the time, firms are too occupied to go over more basic details. Past architecture & design internships have required students in the field to speak an intermediate level of Spanish.

Due to similarities in fields, our candidates interested in interior design internships abroad also chose this Sector.
