Interns will work in legendary organizations advocating for equal rights for the LGBTQ community in Barcelona, Madrid and especially Seville, in the South of Spain. There are older, well established groups, almost political in nature now, and many newer organizations, all working towards educating, advocating and making visible any and all LGBTQ issues. People have been able to marry who they want in Spain since the turn of this century (2000) so it is a wonderful and accepting place to live for the LGBTQ community and their families.
Candidates choosing to intern in this sector in Chile are lucky – we are well connected with two famous groups there. Given the new anti-discrimination legislation, called “Zamudios Law“, named after a gay boy who was attacked, there is a lot of renewed energy for the LGBTQ rights. Yes, to be placed through Adelante Abroad in an LGBTQ internship, we require at least a B1 (low-intermediate) Spanish speaking level to be placed. In destinations like Spain, Mexico, and Chile, Spanish is language spoken by most. Interns will take part in Spanish language classes to help them improve their language skills, adapt to the culture and workplace.
What is the cost of an LGBTQ internship abroad?
Pricing for an internship in the LGBTQ sector depends on the country that you will be participating in and how long you will be abroad. Pricing for our programs differs from country to country.
