“Everything is going wonderfully here in Uruguay! I’m planning on visiting a tango show with my friend this weekend and also visiting the language exchange here in Montevideo which is held every Saturday. My work placement is a perfect fit for me- I’ve been translating a lot of guidelines for cancer treatments into Spanish- which is challenging, but satisfying and rewarding. My office has also moved so I’m enjoying taking a different route there every morning. Overall- I’m loving it! I wish I could stay longer.”

“Everything has been PERFECT. My internship is going great and my projects aren’t too demanding. The host mother is the sweetest woman EVER and the other Ecuadorians in the house are very friendly and welcoming. I’ve been traveling around Ecuador as well and I must say, this country is GORGEOUS. I’ve made some great Ecuadorian friends and had some unforgettable experiences. I honestly couldn’t ask for more.”

“Things are great. I feel pretty adjusted, and am enjoying my time here. I just finished my two weeks of Spanish classes and have officially started my internship at Spanish Institute. Everything is running smoothly.”

The schedule is busy during the week with the internship, as it is in the evening and I have language classes in the morning. So I have time to explore the city on the weekends. One of the best things about this experience is meeting the new people, both locals and solo visitors like myself. I’m lucky to have met a few people at the school during Spanish lessons who are in a similar age group to me. We get along pretty well and it’s been great getting to know them. The family that I am living with has been great, really warm, kind and welcoming.”

I’ve also been going to Alameda de Hércules with friends a lot which has been very fun. My classes are going well, I like [the language classes] and my professors are nice!”

“I have been living the Spanish life! Everything is going fantastic, and I am having a wonderful time. I started my internship a few weeks ago, and it has been going well. My bosses are super nice and are encouraging me to explore the country and content. So far, I have only been to Cordoba, but it is a beautiful city. Next weekend, I am planning on going to Madrid because Friday is a holiday.”

“I’m enjoying my internship so far. I’ve definitely been able to put my design skills to good use.”

“I’ve been learning a lot of grammar in my Spanish classes along with learning Judo and exploring the great city of Montevideo! I’ve had a blast here, enjoying every moment of it. Some days far more exciting then others but unlike other vacations I haven’t felt the need to go back home!”

“The internship has been good! These first couple weeks I’m working with [a cafe] and on Friday I gave them a presentation with branding directions and they really liked the first direction so this next week I will be building out assets for them. The work is really independent which I enjoy and creatively fulfilling.”

“I have been super busy having a good time and exploring Madrid! I have truly really enjoyed my summer and am sad to leave [this weekend]”.

“I not only loved the area I lived in but the easy and affordable public transportation per metro. My internship company could not have been more welcoming, I loved my experience so much. I learned so much about the field of pharmacy as well as getting to utilize my Spanish.“

“Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity! … The Apex Vets staff was so lovely and welcoming that it felt like I was a part of their team for much longer than I actually was. They were an absolute joy to observe! … I could not have asked for any better and I will surely remember this endeavor for the rest of my life.”

“Genuinely one of the best experiences of my life! It’s amazing to be able to get hands-on experience relevant to my future career, while also being able to travel and explore new places. I’ve truly enjoyed my time here in Scotland both in the workplace and while traveling. Everything is so beautiful and has a deep history behind it, and it’s wonderful getting to know every nook and cranny of this city.“

“I’ve been so busy! But in a good way 🙂 My first internship week was filled with events. I haven’t really made any new friends with coworkers since the internship is online but I like my boss Javier and I enjoy interacting with people at the events, and I’ve been able to socialize with other students from Eureka.”

“I have been loving [my internship] already. My coworkers, and my boss, Antonia, have all been wonderful. They are patient with me as I work on my Spanish, and I have began to learn the ins and outs of what they do there. Next week, I will be giving my own presentation in Spanish, and I am looking forward to it!”

The internship has been going well so far! I really enjoy the site, and everyone has been very kind. Last week I was working in the infirmary with nurses, and now I am with doctors in the emergency department. Thanks for checking in.

This has truly been a once-in-a-lifetime experience! The staff is top notch they are more like friends than teachers/chaperones. From top-notch coaching to world-renowned golf courses, this is definitely every golfers dream. The courses are also very engaging and rely heavily on real-world experience being able to go to hickory golf course, visit the golf museum and coach a group of children in golf. I recommend this program to anyone interested.

My [medical] internship has been a big part of my journey. I feel that this experience has allowed me to gain more independence and help build confidence. I was able to work alongside and learn from so many incredible healthcare professionals who have inspired me in many different ways. The staff continually stressed the importance of education and implementing hands-on practice in order to build self-confidence within the healthcare field. Not only was I able to utilize and practice many skills that I have learned in my own nursing practice in the States, but I was also able to gain a new perspective within the healthcare system in Spain. It has been so interesting to see the many similarities and differences between healthcare practice in Spain versus nursing practice in the States.
Thank you for all your guidance and support during my time abroad! I am so grateful to Adelante for giving me the opportunity to experience something that was very much out of my comfort zone, but in turn, gave me a whole new outlook on the world and allowed me to build lifelong friendships that I will forever cherish.

I truly loved my experience in the program. I’m still kind of astonished at the amount of software development knowledge I gained in just over 3 months. Learning how to speak technical jargon in Spanish also made me confident that I can work in the software industry in any Spanish-speaking country in the future. I’m grateful to Adelante for creating such an awesome internship abroad program, and I think the experience beat studying abroad by miles.

I had an amazing time here. I learned a lot and had so much fun traveling around here. I had never ridden english before so this was all new. They were very patient with us. I came in with some equine A&P knowledge but I definitely was able to broaden that knowledge. Equine fitness was all new to me. I learned a lot about making a fitness plan to get a horse ready for different types of competitions.

I spent 3 months in Uruguay, interning with a law firm in Punta del Este. The firm I interned with was the first firm to receive recognition for its continuous improvement and quality management by the National Institute of Quality (INACAL). It was an honor to collaborate with a firm with such recognition. My internship placement was flexible, and I received university credit for my internship. My firm was happy to accommodate my hours and fill out all forms I needed for the university.

I had such an amazing time here and I am so sad that it is time to leave! The relationships I made at my veterinary placement as well as with the other students through Adelante have all been wonderful! I learned so much and all of the staff were so amazing! I got so much hands-on experience and it was so amazing to have such a large role at the hospital!

Coming to Madrid for 3 months was the best decision I ever made. I did an internship that involved teaching Spanish children English. I have made friends with people from around the world and have greatly improved my Spanish. This was my first time living by myself, and I can safely say that it has prepared me for university and for future life. I loved living in and experiencing the culture of Spain!

“Living in Spain change my life. I cannot be more grateful with Adelante Abroad because they offered an once in a lifetime experience. I learned how to be more independent and meet amazing people along the way. The [accounting] internship that I was offered gave me the conditions and the push I needed to start growing professionally and mentally. I would like for others to find courage and take this chance in their life because I promise they will not regret it.”

I absolutely love my job placement in the Urgent Care at the Clinica in Madrid. It has allowed me to see a lot of different things and learn a lot of new vocab. I even got to see two babies be born! Definitely the coolest thing I’ve ever seen, and has surely solidified what I want to specialize in.

I loved going to the (language) school and meeting the people, definitely going to miss going there every day. I am definitely enjoying my time out here! I love my internship, the people are nice and the location is very convenient. The people at the internship are giving me tips about Barcelona and different places to visit. I am enjoying my time here in Barcelona.

Adelante is a great option for those looking for an internship abroad. They provide a language course during the first two weeks, housing, and internship placement in your field. Adelante doesn’t baby their interns. Participants will leave their placement more knowledge in their field, and equipped to face the future.

Everything in Spain is going well. The internship has been really great thus far. I mainly help to coordinate volunteers for projects that (my internship’s NGO section) has going on. But I have also helped with revisions in Spanish, French and English, and have translated a few articles into English. It’s been really interesting learning about all the programs, software, and how other people translate.

My internship experience was particularly impactful. I was placed in a professional and welcoming environment where I was given real responsibilities, not just busywork. I felt like a valued part of the team, and I learned so much about the industry, local work culture, and how to collaborate across languages and cultures. It was challenging in the best way—pushing me to grow both professionally and personally. In addition to my internship, I took Spanish classes which were incredibly helpful. The teachers were engaging and patient, and the classes were well-structured to improve both conversational and grammatical skills. Being immersed in the language every day also helped reinforce what I was learning in class.
One of the unexpected highlights of my time in Barcelona was the people I met. I made great friends from all over the world—some through my internship, others at the language school, and many more through social events in the city. Barcelona has such an international, vibrant feel that it was easy to connect with people who were also here to learn, work, and explore.
All in all, my time in Barcelona was a perfect blend of professional development, language learning, and cultural immersion. I came here hoping to gain experience and improve my Spanish, but I left with so much more—new friends, unforgettable memories, and a deeper appreciation for the city and its people.”

I would participate in another Adelante program if given the chance. The program was extremely affordable in comparison to the others available and yet in comparing my experience with friends who choose other programs, Adelante never felt like a cookie-cutter experience. It is true that it didn’t have as many excursions or trips, but I preferred the independence to explore the culture on my own. I was able to make my own experience and that was more rewarding then going on a packaged tour.
