Education Internships Abroad

Make a Difference in the Classroom with Education Internships

Do You Have a Passion for Education? We Got You

People who live and work in another country bring something different back to the classroom. An education internship abroad gives you direct exposure to a different education system, a different student population, and a different way of thinking about teaching and learning that shapes the kind of educator you become.

Education placements with Adelante Abroad are available across a range of settings, including public and private schools, language institutes, after-school programs, and community education organizations. Interns may teach or assist with teaching adults or children, depending on the placement and the time of year. Placements that involve working with children are more common during summer programs.

Education internships with Adelante Abroad are available in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Uruguay, and Oaxaca, Mexico, with programs running throughout the year.

Why Choose an Education Internship Abroad?

An international education internship gives you classroom experience that is difficult to replicate at home and a perspective that stays with you throughout your career. Here is why education students and aspiring teachers choose to intern abroad with Adelante:

What Will You Do as an Education Intern Abroad?

Education is a broad field, and our placements reflect that. Here is a look at the types of work our education interns have taken on across their placements:

Teach or Assist in the Classroom

Education interns work in public and private school settings, assisting teachers with classroom activities, lesson planning, and student support. Some interns take on more independent teaching responsibilities over the course of their program. In Uruguay, past interns have observed classes, worked directly with teachers, run workshops, and substitute taught, gaining real teaching experience that goes well beyond a typical intern role.

Work in Language & ESOL Programs

Some placements involve working within language institutes or ESOL programs, supporting English language learning for children, teenagers, or adults. Interns have helped create instructional materials, developed new classroom activities, and worked alongside language teachers in Spain to support students at different levels of English proficiency.

Work in Environmental Education

In Seville, some interns have been placed at a local organic farm dedicated to introducing young students to farming and the natural environment. Responsibilities have included assisting with educational projects, creating hands-on learning activities using natural materials, and supporting farm activities such as plant and animal care.

Work in Special Education & Student Support

Some placements focus on special education or student counseling, giving interns the opportunity to work with students who have additional learning needs. These roles require patience, adaptability, and a genuine interest in supporting students in a more individualized way.

Work in Study Abroad & Education Administration

For interns interested in the organizational side of education, some placements involve working within study abroad offices or education administration settings, supporting program coordination, communications, and student services.
