Translation Internships Abroad
Put Your Spanish Fluency to Work with Translation Internships in Spain
Unlock Exciting Opportunities with Translating Internships
There’s a difference between knowing a language and living it. Nothing bridges that gap faster than translating real documents, websites, and communications for companies in the heart of the Spanish-speaking world.
Adelante Abroad places translation and interpretation interns with organizations across Spain, including multinational translation agencies, university communications departments, marketing firms, legal offices, NGOs, and international businesses. Whether your goal is to become a professional translator, a court interpreter, a future UN linguist, or to sharpen the bilingual skills that set you apart, a translation internship abroad is one of the most direct paths.
Translation is one of Adelante’s most inclusive sectors, with placements available in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and beyond, depending on your language level and interests. Before placement, you’ll complete a translation test to ensure your assignment matches your ability. This sector rewards genuine fluency and helps you take it further.
Why Choose a Translation Internship Abroad?
In an increasingly globalized world, bilingual translation professionals are in greater demand than ever across virtually every industry. Here’s why language students and aspiring translators should choose this internship:
Improve your fluency with real professional work
Translating for real companies and organizations is the most compelling evidence of your Spanish ability that you can present to a future employer or graduate program.
Immerse yourself in a native Spanish-speaking environment
Your language skills will develop faster while working and living in Spain than in any classroom. Dialects, idioms, register, and cultural nuance can only be learned by being there.
Work across industries
Translation placements span multinational agencies, marketing departments, universities, NGOs, legal offices, and more. You’ll gain cross-sector exposure, making you a more versatile bilingual professional.
Experience regional Spanish dialects firsthand
Working in different Spanish-speaking environments gives you a linguistic breadth that sets you apart in the translation market.
Earn academic credit
Most Adelante interns receive academic credit through their home university, with full documentation support from our team.
These placements are open to students and graduates in translation, interpretation, linguistics, modern languages, Spanish, international business, and any field where bilingual Spanish-English proficiency is a core competency. Your placement is matched to your language level and tested prior to the program, so you’re always set up to succeed.
What Will You Do as a Translation Intern Abroad?
Translation placements are among the most varied in Adelante’s portfolio because nearly every industry requires translation services. Here is a look at the types of work interns may take on:
Professional Translation Agency Work
Placements with private multinational translation agencies provide exposure to the full professional translation workflow, including receiving briefs, translating documents across a range of subject matters and registers, reviewing and editing translated materials, and meeting client deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment. These are rigorous, high-standard placements for candidates who are serious about translation as a career.
Marketing, Advertising & Communications Translation
Many placements are within marketing departments, translating advertising copy, website content, social media materials, press releases, and internal communications between Spanish and English. This type of work develops sensitivity to tone, register, and cultural nuance that pure document translation does not always require. It is an excellent track for candidates interested in the intersection of language and brand.
University & Institutional Translation
Some placements involve translating web pages, academic materials, and institutional communications for universities and public organizations. These roles typically require a high level of precision and an understanding of formal registers in both languages, providing strong preparation for candidates pursuing careers in academic translation, official interpretation, or public-sector language services.
Cross-Sector Translation Support
Because translation is needed across industries, placements are also available with companies in fields such as law, finance, NGOs, technology, and tourism, where bilingual translation support is essential to operations. These cross-sector placements are particularly valuable for candidates who want to combine language skills with a specific industry interest, building a hybrid professional profile that is increasingly in demand.
