Testimonials

This experience has truly been a life-changing moment for me. There was definitely a culture shock when I first arrived as far as the language barrier goes, but as time went on I feel that I have improved in my spanish speaking abilities as well as the desire to continue to study the language as I return home. I have been able to learn so much between my classes, attending my internship at my Clinica, meeting people from all over, and exploring all of the beauty and culture Spain has to offer. I can confidently say that this entire experience has allowed me to grow so much as an individual.

My [medical] internship has been a big part of my journey. I feel that this experience has allowed me to gain more independence and help build confidence. I was able to work alongside and learn from so many incredible healthcare professionals who have inspired me in many different ways. The staff continually stressed the importance of education and implementing hands-on practice in order to build self-confidence within the healthcare field. Not only was I able to utilize and practice many skills that I have learned in my own nursing practice in the States, but I was also able to gain a new perspective within the healthcare system in Spain. It has been so interesting to see the many similarities and differences between healthcare practice in Spain versus nursing practice in the States.

Thank you for all your guidance and support during my time abroad! I am so grateful to Adelante for giving me the opportunity to experience something that was very much out of my comfort zone, but in turn, gave me a whole new outlook on the world and allowed me to build lifelong friendships that I will forever cherish.

My Law internship in Spain was a phenomenal one. I feel that by taking this internship I was able to see things more clearly with what I wanted to accomplish. My internship was extremely unique because not only did I learn a lot with a lawyer at his office, I got hands-on experience by attending court proceedings and elections for the lawyer society of Madrid. He took me in as his ward and introduced me to countless attornies, businessmen, and people who share a similar mentality of professionalism as we do, which was much appreciated.

I truly loved my experience in the program. I’m still kind of astonished at the amount of software development knowledge I gained in just over 3 months. Learning how to speak technical jargon in Spanish also made me confident that I can work in the software industry in any Spanish-speaking country in the future. I’m grateful to Adelante for creating such an awesome internship abroad program, and I think the experience beat studying abroad by miles.

Interning in Spain has always been a dream of mine ever since I learned Spanish and Adelante was able to make it a reality. They helped out with all the steps when it came to location, housing and work placement. I was able to not only gain relevant work experience in my field, but also connect and make friends with people from all parts of the world, put my Spanish skills to the test and grow as a person. I highly recommend everyone to take the chance and go out of their comfort zone by studying or interning abroad.

I had an amazing time here. I learned a lot and had so much fun traveling around here. I had never ridden english before so this was all new. They were very patient with us. I came in with some equine A&P knowledge but I definitely was able to broaden that knowledge. Equine fitness was all new to me. I learned a lot about making a fitness plan to get a horse ready for different types of competitions.

I spent 3 months in Uruguay, interning with a law firm in Punta del Este. The firm I interned with was the first firm to receive recognition for its continuous improvement and quality management by the National Institute of Quality (INACAL). It was an honor to collaborate with a firm with such recognition. My internship placement was flexible, and I received university credit for my internship. My firm was happy to accommodate my hours and fill out all forms I needed for the university.

I decided to go back to school and go for my master’s degree in accounting and started applying for internships and jobs, but they never selected me due to my lack of experience. That is when I decided to apply for an Internship in Madrid. I was scared initially but willing to face and enjoy this new experience. [Adelante] found an intern position for me at a film institute, where I assisted with day-to-day financial transactions, including recording payments in their system. My place of work had a great environment, and everybody treated me like family. I went back home and started applying for new jobs, and thanks to my experiences as an intern in Madrid, I received three offers. This experience was undoubtedly worth it and paid off – the best time of my life.”

I had such an amazing time here and I am so sad that it is time to leave! The relationships I made at my veterinary placement as well as with the other students through Adelante have all been wonderful! I learned so much and all of the staff were so amazing! I got so much hands-on experience and it was so amazing to have such a large role at the hospital!

Coming to Madrid for 3 months was the best decision I ever made. I did an internship that involved teaching Spanish children English. I have made friends with people from around the world and have greatly improved my Spanish. This was my first time living by myself, and I can safely say that it has prepared me for university and for future life. I loved living in and experiencing the culture of Spain!

I wanted to learn what it would be like to work as a psychologist and Adelante helped me reach this goal. I had a great [internship] connecting me with local psychologists to learn, assist with presentations, practice Spanish, observe therapy sessions, and even lead sessions on my own. I also was afforded plenty of time and flexibility to travel throughout Oaxaca. I had some of the best food I’ve had on my travels, some of the kindest people I’ve met, and some of the best places to visit, from the vibrant city to the ruins to the mushroom mountains and to the beaches on both sides. One could spend a lot of time studying and traveling Oaxaca, and by the end, they will want to make it home.
