Study Abroad Application Instructions
Below you will find instructions on how to complete our study abroad application process for your program of choice. An Adelante Abroad representative will be in touch with you within 24 hours.
Step 1: Fill out the Adelante Study Abroad Online Application. It’s quick and easy to complete!
Step 2: Pay the $150 application fee*
* This is a non refundable application fee to set up your file both here in the US and in your chosen city abroad. This will also secure a phone assessment appointment with our Program Director. Please have your credit card ready before submitting your application.
Step 3: Submit the following documents via email, email@example.com, to complete your application packet:
- Recent Photo
- Passport Copy
- Transcript (unofficial copies are okay)
- Completed written Academic Recommendation forms mailed separately.
Upon receiving Steps 1, 2 and 3 above, we will review your materials and contact you right away to schedule a phone or Skype interview with our Director of Programs. In that discussion plan to go over your background, your program goals and a timeline of next steps.
If the supporting documents above haven’t been received within 7 days of applying, your application will be postponed.
Late applications are accepted on a case by case basis and are subject to a $250 late fee.
What Happens After I Apply, Step By Step?
Once we have received your completed application packet (this is a straightforward online form + one email with required documents as attachments), we conduct an hour long Skype or phone interview, to go over your application and the program abroad process, including your course + alternate course choices. Be ready to take a lot of notes here! At that point, approximately 5-10 business days after you have applied, you are formally confirmed into the Study Abroad program.
Next step is to send your file to our team operating in your chosen program city abroad. They matriculate you in all courses, including up to three alternates. We then confirm your placement in all courses – there is a generous drop and add period for semester abroad programs.
Concurrently, we coordinate the housing you have chosen (usually a homestay, in some cases a shared student-apartment, too). Once you have booked your flight and sent us your arrival itinerary, we arrange your airport pick-up. We like to be done with the entire step by step process by no later than about 30 days prior to your program start date.
Consult with your study abroad office, career center and/or academic advisor before applying. They may have their own application process or requirements that you need to follow. Your academic institution can also provide guidance on getting your chosen Semester or Study Abroad program approved for credit transfer and financial aid. Upon successful completion, you will receive an official, sealed set of transcripts.
Research your program. Be sure to research the Study Abroad program you’d like to attend to learn about the destination, application deadlines, eligibility requirements, dates, and more.
